We spend a lot of time defending free enterprise here by opposing the government takeover of broadband internet service.
Thankfully, every now and again, common sense reigns and we can thank wise public servants for their work defending taxpayers. That’s the case this week in Zanesville, Ohio.
Zanesville is an interesting case. Unelected bureaucrats within the mayor’s administration were pushing for the creation of a public internet utility despite multiple private sector providers offering service throughout the city and employing hundreds in the community. The Zanesville City Council’s Ways and Means Committee, however, voted unanimously to kill the administration’s reckless initiative. It’s a true victory for good government!
Make no mistake, government ownership of internet access is overreach at its worst and a wasteful use of taxpayer money.
Let’s call or email these council members and thank them standing up for taxpayers by opposing government waste and overreach.
